A Swing Towards a Brighter Future: UPAA Hosts 2nd President’s Cup
The University of the Philippines Alumni Association (UPAA) hosted the second UPAA President’s Cup on November 12, 2024 at Valley Golf and Country Club in Antipolo, Rizal. Following the resounding success of its inaugural tournament in December 2023, the UPAA is once again bringing together alumni and supporters for a day of camaraderie and competition in the name of philanthropy.
The President’s Cup is more than just a golf event; it’s a lifeline for many underprivileged students at UP. This year’s proceeds will go towards the UP Scholar Healthy Meal Stub Campaign, which aims to provide free, nutritious meals to 1,350 financially struggling students. By alleviating the burden of food insecurity, the campaign allows these scholars to focus on their education and personal growth.
UPAA continues to demonstrate its commitment to the welfare and development of the UP community through various impactful initiatives. In partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE), the association established a Job Placement Office at Ang Bahay ng Alumni in UP Diliman, serving as a vital hub for alumni and students seeking career opportunities. To enhance connectivity and engagement among its members, the UPAA also relaunched its website, making it more accessible and user-friendly for alumni worldwide. Additionally, the association has prioritized the health and well-being of its members by collaborating with a leading hospital to offer exclusive healthcare discounts. Furthermore, through a partnership with the Wadhwani Foundation, the UPAA is empowering educators with training in entrepreneurship and innovation, fostering a culture of creativity and entrepreneurial thinking among students.
